Department of Internal Medicine

The Department of Internal Medicine at Makassed General Hospital provides comprehensive care for adults, specializing in the prevention, diagnosis, and management of a wide range of medical conditions. This includes chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease, as well as acute medical conditions. Our specialized clinics cover areas such as cardiology, gastroenterology, hematology and oncology, nephrology, pulmonary/critical care, nerve and endocrine diseases, infectious diseases, rheumatology, dermatology, family medicine, and psychiatry.

Since 1984, the Internal Medicine department has provided a postgraduate training program for residency at the American University of Beirut. In 2019, it also collaborated with Beirut Arab University for a residency program. The internal medicine training program has been accredited by the Arab Council for Health Specializations since 1991. Graduates also have opportunities for fellowship training in various disciplines at the American University of Beirut and MGH in cooperation with Beirut Arab University.
