Makassed General Hospital (MGH) was founded in Beirut in 1930. It began as a modest two story building with 13 doctors and 10 nurses, aiming to provide high quality healthcare services to the Lebanese community. In 1949, the hospital expanded to five floors. Between 1975 and 1990, MGH continued to meet community needs and evolved into a large, integrated educational hospital. Today, MGH is a 230 bed institution located in an overcrowded area of Beirut, serving approximately 15,000 inpatients and over 50,000 outpatient visits annually. It is recognized as one of the top medical facilities in Lebanon. MGH is supported by over 250 resident physicians and 685 administrative staff.

A New Medical Milestone at Makassed Hospital
Makassed General Hospital proudly performed its first successful Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR) — a minimally invasive procedure to repair the aortic artery without open surgery. The operation lasted around 45–60 minutes under local and conscious anesthesia, marking a major step forward in the hospital’s vascular surgery services.
